· 50 ohm trace. The simplest answer is that historically, coaxial transmission lines have been 50 ohm, so you design your single ended boards at 50 ohms so that you can go board to board with a standard coaxial cable without big reflections. However, twisted pair cable comes in more like ohm Menu 50 ohm single ended vs ohm differential, what does ohm differential mean First, the transformer is inherently ac-coupled, since it is galvanically isolated and will not pass dc levels. Some manufacturers provide modeling information, ellwangen either on their website or through a support group. It is a function of how many twists per inch the cable has. So you should design your PCB to have ohms differential, so that it will launch into twisted pair with a minimum of reflection. And, BTW, I do mean ohms differential. ie ohms impedance between the two center conductors of 50 ohm single ended differeential 50 ohm single ended. Not ohms for each trace of the pair to ground!

Less height means less radiation. crosstalk dramatically various with nearest ref plane. Cutting height by half reduces the xtalk by 4 times.

Due to coupling between each trace in a differential pair, two 50 Ohms traces that are driven differentially will not have differential impedance of Ohms
